Tadhg Mac Mahon (he/him) is the founder and CEO of Shane Collective, a mission-driven tech-for-good startup leveraging technology to empower the global LGBTQIA+ community.
A transgender man, born to Irish-German parents and raised in Cameroon and France, he has a background spanning international law, business management, professional sport, and social impact technology. That global perspective fuels his commitment to disrupting the status quo and creating safer, more inclusive systems.
He holds a Master’s in International Environmental Law, co-founded a humanitarian nonprofit in France with projects in Kenya, and co-created the AMOS Women’s French Cup—an international football tournament championing gender equity in sport. He also served as a Board Director of TENI (Transgender Equality Network Ireland), advancing trans rights and representation in Ireland.
Tadhg spent five years at Twilio, excelling in B2B tech sales as a social impact specialist and helping enterprise-scale nonprofits use technology to scale their missions. He also co-led Twilio’s Global LGBTQIA+ Employee Resource Group and worked closely with leadership to improve internal culture and policy.
A former international footballer, Tadhg represented the Republic of Ireland Women’s National Team and played for Toulouse Football Club. His time in elite sport taught him discipline, resilience, and how to lead under pressure—lessons that continue to shape his approach to building Shane Collective.
Shane Collective was born from a deeply personal need: the lack of a single, trusted platform to help LGBTQIA+ people move through the world safely, confidently, and without compromise. What began as a response to lived experience has become a global mission to build inclusive digital infrastructure for LGBTQIA+ communities worldwide.
At its core, Shane Collective is solving for safety, visibility, and economic empowerment. Through the Shane platform, a dual-sided solution provides trust and safety tools for LGBTQIA+ people, and connection tools for inclusive organisations committed to supporting them authentically.
For individuals, the Shane app empowers users to make informed decisions about where to go, who to trust, and how to navigate the world with greater confidence. The mobile app, launching globally on June 24th, will include community-powered map search and reviews, trip planning with custom lists, emergency alert triggers with live location sharing, navigation, and more. These features help LGBTQIA+ users discover, organise, and safely access places where they are more likely to feel seen and supported, with access to help and safety tools when needed.
The long-term vision is for Shane to become the trusted global platform—a one-stop resource for LGBTQIA+ people and organisations worldwide. New features will roll out every few weeks post-launch, including an AI-powered safe travel concierge, enhanced in-app navigation, and a full suite of safety tools.
On the business side, the Shane Console offers a robust set of tools to help inclusive organisations build meaningful, trust-based relationships with LGBTQIA+ communities. The free Shane Certification program provides a clear pathway for organisations to demonstrate commitment to LGBTQIA+ inclusion and safety through clear standards, community endorsement, and ongoing support.
Through the Shane Console, organisations can claim and manage locations, purchase Shane subscriptions for employees, integrate APIs, increase visibility within the app, and join the partner program—turning inclusion into connection and connection into sustainable growth.
Following the successful launch of its web app in April 2025, the Shane mobile app goes live worldwide on June 24th for iOS and Android. The Shane Console will follow shortly after. With over 140 Shane Certified organisations already on board and hundreds of community ratings and reviews, Shane Collective is laying the groundwork for a safer, more connected future—one where LGBTQIA+ people navigate the world with confidence, and where organisations grow by showing up the right way.
